The Gokyo Lakes trek is a quieter and equally breathtaking alternative to the classic Base Camp route. It leads you to a string of shimmering glacial lakes set beneath towering peaks.

The highlight is the climb of Gokyo Ri for what many consider the finest panorama in the Everest region, with four eight thousand metre giants, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Cho Oyu, in a single sweep.

Good to know. Like Everest Base Camp, this route needs the Sagarmatha National Park permit and the local municipality permit, both included.
